Potty Training a Yorkie

Potty training a Yorkie requires patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. Start by designating a specific potty area outside, such as a grassy spot or puppy pad, and take your Yorkie to this spot immediately after meals, naps, and playtime. Use a consistent command like "go potty" or "do your business" to help your Yorkie associate the command with the action. When your Yorkie eliminates in the designated area, reward them with treats, praise, and affection.

Watch for signs that your Yorkie needs to go, such as sniffing or circling, and quickly take them to the potty area. If you catch them in the act of eliminating indoors, calmly say "no" and take them to the potty area. Don't punish your Yorkie for accidents, as this can create negative associations and make the training process more difficult. Instead, clean up accidents without making a fuss, and encourage your Yorkie to learn from their mistakes. With consistent training and positive reinforcement, your Yorkie will learn to go potty outside where they belong.
